Embarking on the subject of fine art initially felt challenging for me, as my artistic perception leaned more towards visual aesthetics than conceptual depth. The requirement to develop a concept, particularly one excluding landscape photography, added an extra layer of difficulty. However, my determination and curiosity led me to explore new avenues, focusing on the often-overlooked realm of textures.
Brainstorming and researching alternative areas became essential in researching this idea. The strength of perseverance fueled my experimentation with capturing images, transforming what seemed like a weakness into a learning opportunity. Over time, with research and constructive feedback, the challenges evolved into strengths.
Venturing into the realm of editing double exposures was a challenging experience, yet one that I learned from as it effectively visualised my narrative. The realisation of this strength came to light during the exhibition mock-up, where I presented my images to the class in a gallery setting.
Having prior experience in printing, I adapted the editing process to ensure the images translated well onto photographic paper. Reflecting on the images throughout the blogs, I found satisfaction in the outcome, appreciating the process detailed in my blogs.
The blogs proved instrumental in documenting tasks, ideas, and project progress, providing a clear roadmap for implementation. Although I maintained an additional document, the blogs vividly narrated and visualized the ideas and narrative.
Finding inspiration from conceptual artists posed a challenge, given the differing approaches. To address this, I explored multiple artists and projects, drawing inspiration from various sources to make my own project stronger.
Approaching the exhibition mock-up as a genuine showcase allowed me to shine. Reading the statement of intent and individually presenting each image with its narrative heightened viewer engagement. Positive feedback, evident from their body language, affirmed the success of this approach.
In conclusion, this fine art project has been a journey of growth and discovery. The blogs serve as a testament to my willingness to step out of my comfort zone, face challenges, and achieve new artistic heights. I hope the marks left by this project resonate with viewers, as much as it resonated with me.
